All three attorneys at Maureen Peltier, Bosker & Griffin, P.C., are trained family mediators, each having completed a forty hour basic mediation course and an additional twenty-four hour training in family mediation.

Why mediation? Because it offers:
  • a confidential alternative that attempts to promote communication and preserve the self-respect and dignity of the parties
  • legal and financial information to help couples reach agreements
  • help in understanding the psychological and emotional aspects of divorce and its impact on children.
  • reduced hostility, increased satisfaction, and greater compliance with court orders
  • a neutral controlled environment where emotions can be expressed and handled in a manner that reduces the likelihood of misunderstanding and escalation of the conflict.
What is the process like?
  • We meet with couples prior to their retaining attorneys or with their attorneys later in the case prior to trial when an impasse has been reached and litigation is the only remaining alternative.
  • The mediator is not a judge to rule on the issues, but rather an impartial third party to guide spouses in looking at options which will work for both parties.
  • When agreements are reached, if attorneys are present, they are reduced to binding agreements for entry with the court.
Mediation is an extremely effective process for helping divorcing couples reach agreement.
